Essex Rivers Hub

Just downstream from the viaduct near Davy Down there is a sewage overflow point which deposits diluted untreated water.  This occurs when there is heavy or long periods of rain and the system becomes inundated, so releasing it into the Mardyke untreated is necessary to prevent damage to the sewage system.

Introduction of a Sustainable Drainage System(SUDS) could be one way to reduce the impact that the sewage outlet has downstream from Davy Down and also a clean up of the area once this overflow has been used should also be considered to reduce the impact such events have.

Improvements to Corran Way Sewage Pumping Station are being considered with Anglian Water and Ofwat underPR14.
