This November marked the first annual event for the Essex Rivers Hub, celebrating our citizen science project – Essex RiverWatch! We welcomed around 50 volunteers and partners, and the evening proved to be a great success.

The evening included an inspiring keynote speech from Mark Lloyd, CEO of The Rivers Trust, who highlighted the importance of citizen science and thanked our volunteers for their invaluable contributions.
We were also delighted to host partner information stands from Essex County Council, Essex Suffolk Water, Anglian Water, and Essex Wildlife Trust. A special thank you goes to Essex Wildlife Trust for delivering an engaging talk as part of the evening.

A highlight of the event was celebrating 8 of our dedicated citizen scientists with awards ranging from ‘Photo of the Year’ to ‘Longest Survey Streak’.
The whole evening was thoroughly enjoyable, filled with shared stories, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of pride in both the project and our local environment. We look forward to the next one!
